A native of Seattle, Jerry Grant's racing
career spans 4 decades. Beginning with a road racing Ford coupe,
he dominated northwest road racing in the early 50's. Offered rides
in a variety of cars from Ferrari's to Lotus 19's, Jerry made a
name for himself on the national circuit and then raced in the
USAC Championship Series from 1965 to 1977 with 54 career starts,
including the Indianapolis 500 in 1965-1968, 1970 and 1972-1976.
He finished in the top ten 13 times, with his best finish in 3rd
position in 1974 at Ontario.
He was the first driver to turn a 200 mph
lap on an oval, in
qualifying at Ontario Motor Speedway in 1972.
Well know for his Can Am and USRRC
performances in Dan Gurney's Lola's, Jerry also drove with Gurney
in Ford GT's at LeMans, Sebring and Daytona and in factory
Corvette Grand Sports at the same events. Jerry also got in some
NASCAR races in the early 70's.
